Deep in the woods, near a clear pond, the wise and kind Lawton He-Coon lived inside the stump of an old cypress tree with his wife, Rhea Ra-Coon.
One bright blue, spring day Lawton He-Coon told Rhea Ra-Coon that he wanted to do something to help all their neighbors in the woods.
"What would you like to do?"
she asked him.
"I'm not sure," he said, and so he sat down and thought about
it for a long time. Finally, the answer came to him. "Whatever needs
to be done,"
Lawton He-Coon told his wife.
"Maybe you could go from one end of the woods to the other and ask everyone what they need," she said.
